This midsize luxury SUV seats five passengers in supreme comfort! The used XT5 delivers the coveted combination of plush seat comfort and a smooth, refined ride. Inside the cabin, you’ll find an impressive list of standard features, from dual-zone automatic climate control to faux-leather upholstery. And every model year includes a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Luxury upgrades, which you’ll find on upper trim models, include a panoramic sunroof, hands-free liftgate, and genuine leather upholstery.
At the outset, most XT5s were available with high-tech driver safety aids designed to help you avoid trouble. However, beginning with the 2020 model year, the standard lineup includes coveted safety features, like forward collision warning, lane departure mitigation, and front and rear parking sensors.
And every XT5 trim model features the same powertrain, a 3.6-liter V6 (310 horsepower, 271 lb-ft of torque) linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive was the standard setup for most trim models, though all-wheel drive was also optional for most. The Sport and Platinum trim models include standard all-wheel drive.
The used XT5’s strong powertrain and sporty handling makes it a very impressive daily driver. The Sport trim model delivers a particularly agile performance, thanks to its sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers and upgraded Brembo brakes, among other features.
There were a range of changes during this generation. Some trim models were discontinued, and some were introduced midway through the generation. Here we list the major alterations by model year, so you know what to look for as you shop for a used XT5:
- 2021: The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration technology now includes wireless connectivity.
- 2020: New Sport trim model debuts. The base XT5 trim model is now called the Luxury. The XT5 also introduces a new infotainment interface. And lower trim models now feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Platinum model has been discontinued.
- 2019: The wireless charging pad is both bigger and more powerful. The top-trim Platinum model now comes standard with the Driver Assist package, which includes adaptive cruise control, automated parking technology, and forward and reverse automatic braking.
