The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup has debuted and returns the Hummer badge to the American roads – this time fueled by electricity and technology. Let’s put it up to Tesla's space-age Cybertruck.
Design
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV truck is a four-door convertible with an infinity roof and removable roof panels, along with a support structure that is in the shape of the letter “T.” It’s design elements distinguish the Hummer with its six-bar grille front lighting, upright windshield, low-turret roof profile, and unique taillamps. A towing ground clearance made possible with specially engineered 35” tires that give you an optimal balance on and off the road. The Edition 1 is the sole model available for the first year. All Edition 1 trims are white with a black roof with bronze-colored wheels and a two-tone black-and-gray interior with bronze accents and Edition 1 badges, with lower priced trims available later this year.
The 2022 Tesla Cybertruck looks like it was dropped off from outer space with sharp-edges and a radical angular design on its exterior. It is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel exterior to Tesla armor glass. Its interior shows a slab-like dashboard and a squared-off steering wheel with a left and right grip. It will seat up to six people under a massive panoramic sunroof, and its 6.4-ft bed features 100 cubic feet of volume of lockable storage, with a slide-out tailgate that doubles as a ramp to load your four-wheelers and gear. The rear features a 3-seat rear bench while the front area includes a folding middle seat that functions as a center console when lowered.
Technology
Available UltraVision with up to eighteen camera views includes underbody and forward and rear facing cameras. Surround Vision allows you to maneuver off-road and navigate tight spaces when traveling at low speeds. GM’s driver assistance system with its Super Cruise allows for automatic lane change and hands-free driving on compatible highways. A digital key, GMC’s MultiPro Tailgate, and a giant 13.4-inch infotainment display are nice conveniences.
Every Tesla model will feature its self-driving Autopilot feature, and it will also offer a Full Self-Driving option for added cost. Also, every model will have a big 17-inch touchscreen that is horizontally mounted in the center of the dashboard, and will control many of the vehicle’s functions including climate control and navigation.
Power
The Hummer will be offered with three electric motors and 1000 horsepower with an estimated real torque number between 1000 and 1100 lb ft. with all three motors. It comes fully loaded with the Extreme Off-Road package which includes the 35-inch tires, skid plates and rock sliders. Its Crab Walk allows the Hummer EV to travel diagonally by using a four-wheel steer. Additionally, an adjustable air suspension is included. It will have a 200-kwh 24-module double-stacked Ultium pack, making its range 350-miles. All-wheel is standard and GMC estimates a Zero-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds and a price tag of $112,595.
The Cybertruck is available with three electric motors, and has an adjustable air suspension that can be raised or lowered, providing up to 16 inches of ground clearance. While the basic Single Motor can cover up to 250 miles, the Dual Motor model has a range of 300 miles and the Tri Motor claims to reach 500 miles. Tesla claims it will go from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and top out at 110 mpg, but with the three-motor model, it can reach zero -60 in 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. Tesla’s have a maximum tow rating of 7500 and 10,000 pounds; models with a third motor will be able to pull 14,000 pounds. Every Cybertruck can also haul 3500 pounds in its 6.5-foot cargo bed. The base price for the Cybertruck starts at $39,900, the Dual Motor all-wheel drive version starts at $49,900, and the Tri Motor all-wheel-drive Cybertruck will start at $69,900. You can add Full-Self-Driving for and added $10,000
Conclusion
These two all-electric trucks of the future are intelligent, and powerful, and have a style of their own. Each has their own look, capabilities and price tag. Hummer’s added trims later this year will estimate a lower price tag.
