Overview:
The 2022 Cadillac has had a few updates for the new year like Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers and an available 20-inch wheel design. Impressive cargo space, a lush interior and a handful of available upgrades will enhance your vehicle even further. One of its competitors: the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus, gives it a run for its money with several technology options and new packages. Let’s take a look.
Pricing:
The 2022 Cadillac XT5 comes in three trims:
- Luxury: $45,190
- Premium Luxury: $49,915
- Sport: $57,015
The mid-level trim, the Premium Luxury offers great standard features that stand apart from the others. Leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, hands-free liftgate, wireless charging and more.
The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus offers three, as well:
- Standard: $43,590
- Reserve: $49,995
- Black Label: $66,185
The mid-level Reserve trim is a great mix of luxury and quality.
Power:
The XT5 offers two engines and the choice of FWD or AWD: the turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 237 horsepower and a V6 engine with 310 horsepower. These engine options stack up against some of the XT5’s competitors like the Lexus RX350 and Volvo XC60. In terms of fuel economy, the 4-cylinder will get you 22 mpg in the city and on the highway. The V6 will give you about 19/26. With AWD used on the highway, those numbers will drop to around 29 mpg on the 4-cylinder and 23 mpg on the V6. You’ll be impressed with how quiet the cabin is with the V6 and the XT5’s composure on twists and turns; featuring deep-rooted control to protect from rolling.
Engines available for the Nautilus are the standard 2.0-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder or the optional 2.7-liter twin turbo V6. The first pushes out 250 horsepower and the V6: 335 hp. AWD and FWD are available.
Interior:
You’ll be impressed with the interior of the XT5, which is entirely upscale and appears to be high-level luxury across all trims. Cargo space is also a pleasant addition with the capacity to hold 10 carry ons in the back or 24 with the back seats folded down.
Technology includes:

There aren’t a ton of safety features but you will get the basics like blind-spot monitoring (not standard), automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
For the Lincoln Nautilus, you’ll find several luxury features like quality leather, metal and wood materials; the Black Label also offers faux-suede. New for this vehicle is the Premium Package with 18-inch wheels, a power-adjustable steering wheel, universal garage door opener, and in-dash navigation. You’ll find even more in the Reserve trim’s Luxury package and several new exterior paint colors like Artisan Blue and Green Gem.

Overall:
The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is a good idea for those looking for a smart and simple vehicle with a rich, unexpected interior. Decent fuel economy, cargo space and good performance will be the cherry on top. The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus is quite the competitor with a lot of technology features, updates and available packages. Although it puts up a fair fight, the charming simplicity, space and mpg makes the XT5 stand out.
