While Kelley Blue Book has stated that the “Terrain has all of the perks of a mainstream compact SUV, like a spacious interior and modern technology.” There are still some problems that should be covered. These are with the transmission, engine, as well as excessive oil consumption, and faulty AC. All things considered, this isn’t very many issues, especially when looking at other makes and models.
Taking a deeper look at these issues will show you what you should look out for if you’re a Terrain owner, or a potential buyer and want to see how we handle it.
The first issue is with the transmission. This one takes from in a more general aspect of the transmission outright failing. If this were to happen to you, it will leave your vehicle inoperable.
The engine problems that have been found involve the engine stalling, and stopping. With some even reporting that their engine shut off when driving, making it hazardous.
Excessive oil consumption was a problem earlier in its life, happening with 2010 and 2011 models. While this hasn’t been much of a problem lately, it’s still something to keep in mind.
The last issue is with the AC. While some who live in more moderate climates may not find this a big deal, we’re from the Sacramento area. We know how hot the California sun can get, which is why we wanted to cover it here.
