A fairly new model, the Cadillac XT5 replaces the SRX crossover in the 2017 model year. It features an upscale interior and adult-friendly seats at a good price tag.
2017-Present
In 2017, its new design featured sharp-looking headlights and a big, chromed grille. More angular lines were drawn on the side and in the rear; even the exhaust had angular lines. The XT5 comes in four trims: XT5, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum. There were premium options inside with high quality materials. It has standard leatherette upholstery and the Luxury trim adds leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel. A new infotainment system with an 8-inch touch-screen that supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto was installed. A rearview mirror camera system and parking sensors were two standard safety features; and rear park assist and blind spot monitoring were added to the Luxury trim. The Premium Luxury adds navigation, an upgraded Bose stereo, an adjustable suspension, and the Driver Awareness package, that includes forward collision alert, lane keep assist, and more. The Platinum comes with all-wheel drive, a hands-free power liftgate, a rear camera mirror system, and heated rear seats. There is seating for five, with three passengers seating in the rear; and it comes standard with sliding and reclining rear seats. The XT5 delivered a 3.6-liter V6 engine and featured an Active Fuel Management with cylinder deactivation, helping the car run in 4-cylinder mode when coasting or under low or moderate loads. A standard 8-speed automatic transmission was paired to the XT5, and front-wheel or available all-wheel drive was an option.
There are no major changes for the 2018 model year, but all-wheel drive became available in the base model.
In 2019, a new Sport Package became available and additional advanced active safety systems were an option. Current trims are: base, Premium Luxury, and Platinum.
In 2020 you have the choice of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a V6 engine. A new Sport trim became available. It gained an all-new infotainment system, and heated seats became standard.
There are no major changes for the 2021 model year. The Cadillac gets 22/29 mpg in the city and the highway or 19/26 mpg city/highway for the V6 option. The XT5 comes in three trims: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport, with pricing starts at $43,995 for the Luxury trim and ranging to $55,095 for the Sport trim.
