The next generation 2020 GMC Sierra HD will meet all of your expectations of what a heavy-duty pickup truck should be. Available in 3/4-ton 2500, 1-ton 3500 single rear-wheel, and 1-ton 3500 dual rear wheel configurations, the Sierra HD provides a bold design with incredible performance.
Design
The Sierra HD is bigger, bolder and sturdier than before. It’s sculpted headlamps, prominent hood with large air intake, distinctive grilles, and a smarter frame were carefully designed to represent the Sierra HD. 20-inch wheels are available on the Denali 2500 models, as well as on the Denali 3500 single rear wheel models. The Sierra HD seats five in its 4-door pickup comfortably. It has a new, roomier interior with plenty of front row head and legroom, with crew models providing nearly three inches of additional rear-seat legroom. Available with this heavy-duty truck is the world’s first six-function MultiPro Tailgate.
Power and Price
The Sierra HD has an enormous amount of power, hauling, and towing capabilities. It comes standard with 401-hp and 464 lb-ft of torque with a 6.6-liter gas V8 engine. This engine provides an increase in horsepower and torque compared to the previous 6.0-liter gas engine. An optional turbocharged 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 with 446 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission is available. This new transmission provides closer gear spacing than before, allowing the engine to operate in an optimal range at all times. These changes help Sierra perform at its peak, with a maximum gooseneck trailer rating of up to 35,000 lbs. and a gross combined weight rating of 43,500 lbs. Depending on your trim, Sierra HD offers a maximum payload of up to 7,442 lbs. Pricing for the Sierra HD starts at $40,000 for the Sierra SLE & SLT, $57,700 for the Sierra HD AT4, and $63,700 for the Sierra HD Denali.
Safety and Tech
The Sierra HD offers smarter, advanced technology features. It is equipped with a comprehensive camera system that features up to 15 different viewing modes, including a transparent mode that allows the user to virtually see through an attached trailer as if it wasn’t there. Available key safety features include, forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and available lane-departure warning. Every Sierra HD has a standard touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While most trim levels have an 8.0-inch screen, a larger touchscreen can be upgraded with built-in navigation, a Bose audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
